Fernando Alonso

A380 flight test engineer

Fernando shares parts of his diary with us throughout the Asian Aerospace air show.
More about Fernando Alonso.

Friday 24 February

A constant stream of visitors for the A380. I feel like the numbers increase as the week goes! After the demonstration flight, the aircraft is rolled to a Changi airport gate to perform tests. These include going through all the moves and operations that take place at the gate in commercial operations, with the airport equipment.
Fernando Alonso watches out for “his” test aircraft

We had done partial tests on our first trip to Singapore but this time we did the full tests. I watched from the upper deck door, just in case, but everything went smoothly.

I left in mid-afternoon but Pascal Verneau and Mark Cousin stayed with the aircraft until it came back to the static display of the air show around 6 pm.
For me the tests confirm that there is no particular concern with the ground handling of the A380 for airports that are ready for it.
